While often perceived as an inorganic material, stainless steel is in fact, born from the fusion of nickel and chromium, both minerals of the Earth. In Japan, a significant portion of the nickel used in stainless steel production comes from New Caledonia, making stainless steel part of a vast global cycle.
MIDORI’s creations embody the essence of the kanji character “翠” (Midori), which signifies abundance, life, and regeneration. Deeply resonating with the allure of living beings, her works express both their vitality and delicate beauty. Moreover, “翠” also refers to jade, a stone revered in Japan since the Jomon period as a symbol of adornment and authority.
